The BRAT Sprint and Super Sprint Triathlon will once again be held at the West Midlands Water Ski Centre which is just a short drive from Birmingham City Centre. The venue provides a perfect place for beginners who are looking for their first open water race as well as being ideal for the experienced triathlete.

The BRAT club offer a warm welcome with excellent marshals who are in place to ensure that all competitors feel comfortable with taking part in a triathlon and, as we were all beginners once, we will be on hand to help with any questions you have.

The Super Sprint

The Swim is a 400m open water swim in the water ski lake, with competitors swimming 150M out to the first marker where they will take a right turn and head back to the shore and swim exit. From swim exit competitors will run up a carpeted slip way to a grass transition.

Competitors will start in waves of Male and Female, and will also be further divided into age groups.

The Bike course is 11Km through beautiful countryside and carefully selected roads to make an ideal route. The course is mostly flat and works its way around Kingsbury Water Park, taking in much of the scenic North Warwickshire Cycle Way.

The Run will see competitors out of transition to the edge of the lake where they will pass the water stand, and continue on a traffic free route around the perimeter of the water ski lakes. The run will cover 600m along a flat path before approaching the first and only climb of the run route. Pikes ridge is a gentle gradient climb of 300m on grass and when at the top the views of the surrounding nature reserve Tame river and the water ski centre are fantastic.

From here it is a 100m flat run where you will start you decent down to the lakes edge and the run for home, which is flat and on grass.

The Sprint

The Swim is a 750m open water swim in the water ski lake, with competitors swimming 350M out to the second marker where they will take a right turn and head back to the shore and swim exit. From swim exit competitors will run up a carpeted slip way to a grass transition.

Competitors will start in waves of Male and Female.

The Bike route is a flat 21Km course and will be fast with no hills where you will be rewarded with the effort you put in on this bike leg. The route will be patrolled by draft marshals so please do not draft.

The Run will be around the perimiter of the water ski lakes and so will provide the perfect traffic free run. You will leave transition to the edge of the lake where you will pass the water stand followed by 600m along a flat path. This path will lead to a right hand turn through a large gate where you will find the first and only climb of the run route, Pikes ridge, which is a gentle gradient climb of 300 metres on grass. From here it is a 100 metre flat run where you will start you decent down to the lakes edge and at the bottom of the ridge will be the turnaround point.

The turnaround point will be the top of your first lap. The run to complete this lap will be flat and on grass. This will take you back to the club house where a turnmarker will be situated. From here you will complete the lap again before heading towards the cheering crowds at finish line.
