The Heart of England Crusader

The Heart of England Crusader is a tour of the beautiful and Historic North Warwickshire and Leicestershire countryside, taking place Summer 2011 from the West Midlands Water Ski Centre, Dostill, Warwickshire. Situated just off Junction 9 or 10 of the M42

 

There are 3 routes available on the day, the longer route is 120km, whilst the shorter route is to 45km.Their is also an intermediate route of 90km. So you have two things to decide choose how long your crusade can be and how much fun you can handle! You decide how long your ‘crusade’ is.

 

Passing historical towns with castles like Maxstoke with its 14th century moat , or Tamworth with its Norman castle overlooking two rivers, and going through historical sites like Market Bosworth, site of the Battle of Bosworth in 1485, which heralded the start of the Tudor Dynasty when Henry Tudor defeated King Richard III. In-between you will pass the Heart of England as you go through Meridan the recognised Centre of England and then through meandering countryside and farmland in Four Counties on quiet roads

 

 

The route contains something for everyone with a number of rolling hills and enjoyable descents and offers a challenge whatever your ability with many opportunities for a well deserved stop at the aid stations.

At your morning arrival at the Centre

·         Free Parking

·         Bike racking

·         Bike repairs available

·         Registration

·         Cycling Expo

·         Breakfast (coffee, tea) Available

·         A Route Card

·         Changing Toilet and shower facilities

 

The event will start with the car park opening at 6.45am. Registration will open at 7.10am.

The First cyclist will leave the start line at 8.00am.

The event staff will be on the course all day as well as at the Water Ski Centre till 12.30pm.  The routes will be 

  • Route one. Pilgrims Route. One aid Station
  • Route two.  Knights Route. One Aid Station
  • Route three. Kings Route. Two Aid Stations  

There will be aid stations along the route which will have sports drink and also food available. There locations are to be confirmed.

There will also be a sag wagon and a mobile mechanic on course.

On your arrival back at the Water Ski Centre hot food will be available.
